Hood Furnaces and Bell Furnaces

The design of hood and bell furnaces makes it possible to lift the actual work chamber from the hearth. This greatly facilitates the furnace charging and the furnaces are further equipped with twin hearths, of which one is charged or discharged while the other is in thefurnace. As an alternative design there are bell furnaces with liftable hearth. The function and use of these furnaces very closely correspond to those of the chamber furnace. The bell furnace is commonly used for the annealing of steel strip or wire and also protective gas annealing of copper alloys.
